Praca z filmem dydaktycznym do nauki języka angielskiego uczniów w szkole podstawowej na przykładzie "MUZZY IN GONDOLAND" (prod. BBC)
(Wybrane ćwiczenia)
Poniżej podane streszczenie filmu jest podzielone na krótkie fragmenty, które można rozdać poszczególnym uczniom lub grupom kilkuosobowym.
W grupach względnie zaawansowanych można poprosić uczniów o próbę ułożenia fragmentów w spójną, logiczną całość.
1) przed oglądaniem filmu - wymaga to wstępnego opowiedzenia treści przez nauczyciela, np. z wykorzystaniem całego streszczenia, z równoczesnym układaniem planu wydarzeń lub pytań do poszczególnych epizodów ( grupa musi być na dość dobrym poziomie podstawowego zaawansowania );
2) po obejrzeniu filmu - ściśle mówiąc po dokładnym przestudiowaniu poszczególnych epizodów i powtórnym obejrzeniu całości. Dla ułatwienia percepcji głównej treści filmu można wykonać specjalną kopię (potrzebne są dwa magnetowidy), w której pomija się ściśle dydaktyczne fragmenty z Normanem (postać nauczyciela). Pokazanie jej uczniom ułatwi się im (zwłaszcza mniej zaawansowanym) zapamiętanie kolejności epizodów.
Można wprowadzić element rywalizacji ograniczając czas wykonania ćwiczenia. W trakcie ćwiczenia nauczyciel podchodzi do każdej grupy i zadając pytania naprowadza na właściwą sekwencję wydarzeń.
3) Uczniowie zaawansowani samodzielnie układają pytania do poszczególnych fragmentów streszczenia. Pytania są zapisywane na tablicy i służą do dalszej konwersacji na temat zdarzeń pokazywanych na filmie.
4) Po obejrzeniu filmu uczniowie otrzymują streszczenie z lukami, które wypełniają po usłyszeniu odczytanego przez nauczyciela całego tekstu streszczenia. Może to być potraktowane jako swoisty sprawdzian znajomości treści i słownictwa związanego z filmem.
Wersja nieco łatwiejsza tego ćwiczenia może być zaopatrzona w brakujące wyrazy, podane w przypadkowej kolejności. Wówczas nauczyciel nie odczytuje streszczenia.
Poniżej podajemy przykładowe streszczenie, dla ułatwienia podzielone na fragmenty, które po wydrukowaniu tnie się na paski tekstu do używania w ćwiczeniach.
Ćw.1. Streszczenie „Muzzy in Gondoland”
Muzzy comes to the Kingdom of Gondoland. He comes in his spaceship and uses laser beams. He is a friendly alien. He is very big, strong and clever. He looks like a big green bear.
He doesn't like plums, apple, peaches grapes and sweets.
He eats only clocks and that is a problem when he is hungry. After landing in Gondoland he eats parking meters.
Because of eating parking meters, the police arrest him and he goes to prison. He meets Bob there. At first Bob is afraid of big Muzzy, but then they make friends.
There is a big palace in Gondoland, where the King and his wife, the Queen live. The King is very strong and the Queen is very fat. They have got a daughter, Princess Sylvia. She is a beautiful girl. There are also two other men in the palace. They are Corvax, a computer engineer, who is very clever and Bob, a gardener, who is brave.
Corvax can use a computer and he knows many tricks and computer games. Bob can do the gardening and he can save a baby from a fire because he is brave.
Bob loves Princess Sylvia and it is their secret. Bob has got a motorbike and one day they go on a trip.
Because of this trip, Corvax tells the King about Bob and Pricess Sylvia. The King doesn't like it and the King's soldiers arrest Bob. He goes to prison and meets Muzzy in a cell number nineteen (19).
Corvax also falls in love with the Princess. However, she doesn't love him, because Corvax is ugly. His face is green, his nose is very, very long and he is tall. When he walks, he swings a little and he always wears black clothes and funny hats. Princess Sylvia hates him.
Corvex has an idea. He wants to make Sylvia in his big computer for himself. When the computer draws and prints Sylvia's picture, something wrong happens with it.
The computer doesn't print a picture of Sylvia's only, but also starts making Sylvia's double. First Corvax likes it very much, but then he is frightened, because the computer makes a lot of Sylvia's doubles and doesn't stop making them.
The Queen and the King are surprised when they see Sylvia here and there and they can't understand what is going on. Why are there so many Sylvias in the garden, in the living-room, in the palace and everywhere?
The King comes to Corvax's computer room and he can see Sylvias coming from the big computer. So he asks Corvax to stop the computer, but Corvax can't do it because he is stupid. The king starts kicking the computer and he himself jumps into it. The computer becomes the King's prison.
The Queen is unhappy and asks Corvax to free the King from the computer. Corvax is stupid and can't do anything because the computer is out of order.
Luckily Muzzy comes and helps the King. He eats some parts of the computer and repairs the computer, so the King jumps out of it and is free.
At the same time Corvax runs away and gets into the helicopter. Bob runs after the helicopter, catches it and in the end comes back with Corvax. The soldiers take him away.
Muzzy works on the computer and all Sylvias, who aren't real Sylvias, but her doubles, go back into the computer. There are no more doubles of Sylvias.
Corvax must work in the palace kitchen and it is a punishment for him. Bob and the Princess Sylvia get married and the King, the Queen and Muzzy are together with them at the wedding party.
After the wedding party Muzzy is in his spaceship and he goes away. His spaceship takes off and he flies into the space. The King says: "Thank you. Thank you, Muzzy. Please, come back some day." Everybody says :"Good-bye".
